Our Team


Present Tense Fitness is a collective of coaches and personal trainers located in New York City and Dayton, Ohio. The connective tissue binding this team together consists of patience, tenderness, rigor, and attention to detail. With interests that run the gamut from powerlifting and weightlifting to distance running and cycling to bodybuilding to pain management, we work and meet as a group to help you achieve your goals.

Jason Harrison

Jason is a strength coach at the New York City Ballet and the School of American Ballet who also works with dancers from the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, and the Sacramento Ballet. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, a United States Weightlifting Level One Coach, and a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS), where he has spoken multiple times and for which he has written a strength and conditioning curriculum.

Jason enjoys reading, going to art exhibits, and watching dance in his free time. He’s based in New York City and is the co-owner of Present Tense Fitness.


Susan Harrison

Susan is a strength coach who has worked with artists from the New York City Ballet, School of American Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, and Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist, and a Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist. She is especially adept at blending injury prevention strategies with sports and dance performance goals and is a member of the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. 

Susan, the co-owner of Present Tense Fitness, is a devoted New York Mets fan. She trains both dancers and general population clients alike in New York City’s Greenwich Village.


CALLIE YOUNG

Callie is a personal trainer and strength coach who works with dancers, runners, and general population clients in Dayton, Ohio. She has trained artists from the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Ballet School, and the De La Dance Company, in addition to a wide array of runners, cyclists, and people brand new to strength training. She uses her own experiences with pain and hypermobility to train clients with patience, empathy, and a rigorous attention to detail. Callie is a creative and patient trainer who is as comfortable training a 70-year-old grandparent as she is a preprofessional dancer.

Callie enjoys cooking, hiking, running, cycling, and camping in her downtime.


Christina machi

Christina holds a master’s degree in exercise science from Ohio State, has competed as a bodybuilder, and is a strength and conditioning coach to high school athletes at Chaminade Julienne High School in Dayton, Ohio. She has experience coaching large groups of athletes as well as introducing strength and conditioning to people who are new to the gym, bringing a calm demeanor and rigorous approach to every session.

She’s a devoted Pittsburgh sports fan, who enjoys live music and spending time with her dog and challenging her children to a variety of sports and feats of strength.
